Chamunda

Glossary

One of the seven matrikas, or forms of the mother goddess Shakti. Chamunda is the fearsome form of Chandi, an incarnation of the goddess Kali, and depicts decay and bareness. Her name is an epithet derived from her act of decapitating the demons Chanda and Munda.
